The PSRTI conducts the regular training course on Basic Statistics 1: Descriptive Statistics, April 18-21, 2022

The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) conducted its Regular Training Course on Basic Statistics 1: Descriptive Statistics on April 18-21, 2022 with 29 participants attending.

The participants are from the Agricultural Training Institute of Regional Training Center Region II, Bureau of Plant Industry, Commission on Population and Development, Department of Health -Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Iloilo, Jose Rizal Memorial State University, Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Sr. Medical Center, National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, Philippine Statistics Authority, Philippine National Police, Zamboanga City Medical Center, and Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute.

Mr. George Ringo S. Manapat, Instructor from the School of Statistics of the University of the Philippines Diliman, served as the resource person. Mr. Manapat discussed, among others, ways to collect and describe a given data set using summary measures, and presenting data effectively and professionally. The lectures, even if mostly technical, were easily understood by the trainees.

The overall impressions focused on the well-planned and organized program of activities of the course. The topics covered all the learning objectives, with the resource person being lauded for his expertise in discussing these. Notable also is the workshop sessions where the participants actively joined. The Training Team was likewise specially mentioned for being hands-on, approachable, attentive, and responsive to the concerns of the attendees.
