SEPO staff enriches Regression Analysis skills through CTCs conducted by PSRTI

Sixteen members of the Senate Economic Planning Office (SEPO) recently completed two Customized Training Courses (CTCs) on Regression Analysis, an advanced statistics tool requested from PSRTI. The training sessions were facilitated by Prof. John Carlo Daquis from the University of the Philippines Diliman School of Statistics.

The first segment of training took place from January 8 to 10, 2024, at the Vicente Y. Sotto Room at the Senate of the Philippines premises in Pasay City. This was followed by Advanced Regression Analysis, conducted on January 15 to 19, 2024. The first 7 days of the training were held at the Senate, while and final day was done at the PSRTI Conference Hall, PSRTI office in Quezon City.

During the Closing Ceremonies, participants expressed their satisfaction with the organization and clarity of the training. They lauded the well-structured program and appreciated Prof. Daquis’ adeptness at simplifying complex and technical concepts. Participants also praised the incorporation of SEPO’s data in the examples and exercises, as well as the training team’s efforts to ensure that such examples are relevant to the tasks of the participants. Notably, one participant highlighted the depth of knowledge gained during the course, despite already possessing a statistical background and prior knowledge in the subject matter.

SEPO expressed thanks to Prof. Daquis and the PSRTI Training team, led by Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD. They were given Certificates of Appreciation and tokens recognizing the handling of the successful training. In his closing remarks, SEPO Executive Director Merwin Salazar expressed his gratitude for the hard work and cooperation of the PSRTI and that of SEPO participants.
