The PSRTI successfully conducted a Customized Training Course (CTC) on Multivariate Analysis for the Senate Economic Planning Office (SEPO) from February 10-14, 2025, at the PSRTI Gervacio G. Selda Jr. Room. The training was facilitated by Dr. Michael Daniel C. Lucagbo as the Resource Person.
A total of 22 participants attended the training, comprising 19 staff from SEPO, one representative from the Office of Senator Win Gatchalian, and two staff members from the PSRTI Training Division. The training aimed to introduce participants to fundamental and practical methods for analyzing multivariate data, providing hands-on experience using the R programming language to enhance their understanding and application of multivariate techniques.
The training was formally opened by PSRTI Executive Director Dr. Josefina V. Almeda, who emphasized the significance of statistical methodologies in policy research and economic planning. Throughout the five-day program, participants actively engaged in discussions and exercises designed to equip them with essential multivariate analysis skills.
During the Closing Ceremony, selected participants shared their feedback, expressing appreciation for the resource person’s expertise and real-world examples. Many also commended the integration of R programming, which not only reinforced statistical concepts but also improved their proficiency in data analysis software.
SEPO Executive Director Merwin H. Salazar delivered a message recognizing the participants’ enthusiasm and the resource person’s contributions. In recognition of their valuable efforts, Dr. Lucagbo and the PSRTI training team, led by Dr. Almeda, received certificates of appreciation and tokens from SEPO.
With the success of this initiative, PSRTI reaffirms its commitment to providing high-quality statistical training and capacity-building programs for government agencies and institutions. Future collaborations with SEPO and other agencies are anticipated to further enhance statistical proficiency in the public sector.
