It has been two years of continuing transformation for the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) as it celebrated its second year anniversary on 18 September. The Institute marked its second-year anniversary on 12 September; however, celebration took place a week after, that is on 18 September.
Created by virtue of Republic Act No. 10625, an act reorganizing the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) on September 12, 2013, PSRTI just reached two years in serving as the research and training arm of the PSS.
The celebration was not only for the PSRTI staff but as a way of gratefully acknowledging the valuable roles of its forerunner, Statistical Research and Training Center (SRTC), in enabling the Institute to successfully deliver on its research and training endeavours. As Executive Directors of the former SRTC, Mr. Marcelo M. Orense, Mr. Ceferino S. Sinsioco, Ms. Carmelita N. Ericta, Ms. Ann Inez N. Gironella, and Mr. Gervacio Jr., G. Selda were given plaques of gratitude, who in one way or another have promoted the development of the Agency.
Some of the PSRTI staff were also recognized for their valuable contribution to the Institute. Loyalty awards were granted to CEMojica, MRPeña and EVRamos. Moreover, ECAdame, OFChinilla, GHDelaPeña, RRMaurera, JAPeBenito, DTLoayon and JMDetangco were presented with certificates for their service at PSRTI for 20 years and more. On the other hand, IPHiganto was awarded as the Most Outstanding Employee while MRPeña as the Most Promising Statistician.
The event was flocked with 58 attendees, of which 26 are guests. Mugs, personalized with PSRTI’s logo and the anniversary’s theme, were given away as tokens both for the staff and the guests.
The plan to conduct a photography contest as the Institute’s contribution to the celebration of the 26th National Statistics Month (NSM) was also launched. The contest showing Statistics through a Camera Lens will adopt the NSM’s theme: “Pagyamanin at Gamitin ang Estadistika, Kalusugan para sa Lahat ay Abot-Kamay Na.”
Two years of contributing to statistical researches, two years of providing statistical trainings, PSRTI continues to transform in performing its significant role in the development of a strong Philippine Statistical System. Two Years of Continuing Transformation indeed!
