PSA, PSRTI managers attend PARIS21 leadership program

The Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21) recently conducted the Statistical Leadership Enhancement Programme for middle and upper managers of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Philippines Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI). Held from June 18-21, 2024 at the PSRTI Conference Room, the program saw the participation of 15 PSRTI managers and 28 PSA managers. Dr. Brian Chinsamy, Founder and Co-Director of Leap Leadership and Learning, and Ms. Miriam Fugfugosh, a faculty member from the Center for Creative Leadership, facilitated the program.

The intensive four-day program featured a series of lectures, workshops, and focus group discussions tailored to the Philippine context with the aim to enhance participants’ leadership skills, styles, and techniques among. The initiative was specifically designed to address leadership and management skill gaps critical for ensuring accurate and timely data collection and analysis for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) monitoring and evaluation. The program’s curriculum focused on equipping participants with the capabilities to coordinate and influence decision-making within their organizations.

Feedback from the participants during the Closing Ceremonies highlighted the program’s success. Attendees praised the facilitators for their extensive knowledge and engaging delivery. The combination of lectures and hands-on activities allowed participants to immediately apply the concepts discussed.

PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD delivered the closing remarks, expressing gratitude to PARIS21 and the facilitators for the enriching program. She voiced optimism that the course learnings would significantly enhance the leadership roles of the participants. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to Dr. Chinsamy and Ms. Fugfugosh by Dr. Almeda and Ms. Kristine Joy Briones, representing PSA National Statistician Undersecretary Dennis Mapa.
