The virtual training on Sustainable Development Goals Seminar 5 (SDG 5) Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel was conducted from September 17-19, 2024, gathering 192 participants from various National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) in Region IV-B (MIMAROPA) and Region V. Resource Persons Ms. Jazel Ann Raper and Ms. Carmela Arabis facilitated the training.

Through lectures, hands-on activities, and exercises, the training covered key data management techniques, reinforcing participants’ confidence and capabilities to apply these skills in their roles. The timely topics, covering tools such as Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel, resonated with participants engaged in data analysis for initiatives like the Community-Based Monitoring System and the Census of Population.

Participants responded enthusiastically to the webinar, highlighting the clear, structured format of the training, which ensured a seamless progression through essential topics. Sessions were logically sequenced, building knowledge incrementally, while hands-on activities and interactive elements helped solidify learning. Materials provided were comprehensive, directly supporting the skills needed to manage data efficiently.

During the closing ceremonies, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region V Regional Director Atty. Arnaldo E. Escober, CESO V, shared his closing message via video recording, while Ms. Raper delivered closing remarks on behalf of PSRTI Executive Director Josefina V. Almeda, PhD.

The SDG seminar series, now in its seventh year and conducted in partnership with the DILG, is central to PSRTI’s mission of strengthening the Philippine Statistical System (PSS). It plays a critical role in equipping government functionaries with essential data management skills, supporting sustainable, data-driven governance at both local and national levels.
