The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) conducted its regular training course on Survey Operations and Questionnaire Design on August 31-September 3, 2021. The training provided participants with an understanding of the principles and steps in the conduct of surveys and questionnaire design as well as skills in data processing and management of survey results.
Thirty-one participants attended. Agencies represented were Ateneo de Manila University, Bureau of Communications Services, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Labor and Employment, Forest Management Bureau, Institute for Labor Studies, Local Government Academy, National Book Development Board, National Electrification Administration, Philippine Children’s Medical Center, Philippine Competition Commission, Provincial Local Government of Nueva Vizcaya and Philippine Statistics Authority Region XI.
Dr. Nancy A. Tandang, Associate Professor at the Institute of Statistics, University of the Philippines Los Baños served as the resource person of the 4-day course. She discussed the research process, survey research and the non-sampling errors. She also lectured on the process of constructing questionnaires and analyzing the survey results. The sessions were complimented by practical examples that the participants can apply in their work or tasks.
The feedback from the participants mentioned the training as being ‘’well organized, starting from the registration until the closing ceremonies of the training. The course outline was followed accordingly, where topics discussed as per published schedule. The selected topics were relevant, practical and informative, with workshop exercises were given after lectures to ensure that participants understood and able to learn from what have been presented.” They also commended the training team in managing and making the sessions enjoyable and in handling the administrative and logistical components of the course.
