RESOURCE PERSONS AND CONSULTANTS

The PSRTI taps only into the best-qualified professionals to serve as resource persons for our training courses and consultants for the development of training modules and research studies. Each of our resource persons and consultants are experts in their respective fields and have consistently received positive feedback from training participants.

MARIA JOSEFA ROSARIO Y. ABANILLA

Ms. Abanilla is a freelance consultant and has served as a resource person for the PSRTI for several courses, most notably for its introductory statistical analysis courses. She is a graduate of BS Statistics at the University of the Philippines Diliman, where she also received her Master of Science in Statistics. Her areas of expertise include Data Governance, Decision Management, and Business Intelligence, with a focus on the financial services industry. Her work in the private sector has allowed for the enabling data driven decisions in business and operations through analytics.

MILDRED B. ADDAWE

Ms. Addawe is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Food Technology from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, and completed her academic units for her Master of Statistics degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She later on earned a Graduate Certificate in Development Practice from the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. She works as a consultant for the Asian Development Bank, prior to which she served as a public servant for the then National Statistical Coordination Board and the Philippine Statistics Authority.

VIRGELIO M. ALAO

Mr. Alao received his Bachelor of Science in Statistics degree from the Visayas State University, Leyte. He was a candidate for a Master of Science in Mathematics at the Cebu Normal University, and obtained a Master of Science in Statistics from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He continued to teach at his alma mater, Visayas State University, as an Instructor II under the Department of Statistics for undergraduate courses such as Elementary Statistics, Statistical Methods, Introduction to Operations Research and Multivariate Analysis, and more.

MANUEL LEONARD F. ALBIS

Mr. Albis works as an Assistant Professor 3 at the University of the Philippines Diliman, School of Statistics, where he also served positions such as College Secretary, Director for Extension Services and Director for Statistical Computing and Consulting Laboratory. He is currently working on a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. His Master of Arts in Economics and Bachelor of Science in Statistics is obtained from the same university. His expertise involves topics on econometrics and poverty statistics, and has provided several training courses on topics such as regression analysis, forecasting, and time series analysis.

LEONARD ALLAN F. ALMERO

Mr. Almero is an Instructor at the University of the Philippines Los Baños handling courses on Elementary Statistics, Experimental Designs, Statistical Computing and Statistical Packages. He is proficient in several statistical programs such as R, STATA, SPSS, EViews, and programming languages Mathcad, MAPLE, C Programming, and Java. He also works as a freelance Statistical Analyst, dealing with data on agricultural and veterinary science. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Statistics degree, graduating Cum Laude, at the same university, while he obtained his Master of Science in Statistics degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

rafael r. angangco

Mr. Angangco is a licensed mechanical engineer, earning his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Philippines Diliman, his graduate degree from the same university, and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Stanford University, California. He serves as Chairman of the Board and hold various officer positions in several banking and venture corporations. His wealth of experience lends to his credibility in holding the PSRTI course on Statistics for Financial Literacy.

CZARINNE ANTOINETTE A. ANTONIO

Ms. Antonio is currently working towards a Master of Science degree in Statistics at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She also finished her bachelor’s degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, at the same university, where she later went on to teach as an Instructor at the School of Statistics, on topics such as Elementary Statistics. She is proficient in statistical softwares like SAS, EViews, and R.

SARAH BERNADETTE M. ARACID

Ms. Aracid has a Bachelor’s degree Statistics from the University of the Philippines, Los Baños, and a Master of Science in Statistics degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is currently working as an Instructor at the Institute of Statistics, University of the Philippines Los Baños. Her areas of interest include survey sampling, time series analysis, and computational statistics.

LYDIA R. ARCELLANA, PH.D.

Dr. Arcellana has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of the Philippines. She also finished her Master in Education, major in Language and Teaching, and Doctor of Philosophy in Philippine Studies, from the same university. She was able to earn 12 units of graduate credits from the College of Journalism at the Marquette University, Wisconsin. She is currently teaching in the University of the Philippines, where she held a G.E. Professorial Chair for several years, and received and Outstanding Teacher Award, Associate Professor category (Leopoldo Yabes Award) in 2002. She has published several articles and books, several of which focus on self-teaching English grammar and Oral Communication.

MARIA ELA L. ATIENZA, PH.D.

Dr. Atienza earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of the Philippines Diliman, finishing as Magna Cum Laude. She later on took a Master’s degree in Political Science from the same university, an Executive Master’s degree in European and International Relations at the University of Amsterdam, and went on to take a Doctorate degree in Political Science at Kobe University in Japan. Her areas of expertise involves local governance and devolution, human security, health policy and politics, and women and gender issues.

PAULO G. BATIDOR

Mr. Batidor is an Instructor at the Visayas State University, Department of Statistics, handling courses on Elementary Statistics, Biostatistics, Experimental Designs, Descriptive Statistics, and Statistics and Probability. He graduated from the same university, earning his degree on Bachelor of Science in Statistics and finishing as Magna Cum Laude. He is proficient in statistical packages like R, Stata, and SPSS, and has skills in programming languages C++ and VB.

CLARINDA L. BERJA, PH.D.

Dr. Berja has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Master of Arts degree in Demography from the University of the Philippines. She also has a Doctorate degree in Sociology, and is currently a candidate for Doctor of Social Development at the same University. Her expertise includes human security, disaster management, migration and development, Asian democracy, human rights and child labor and adolescent reproductive health. She teaches several undergraduate courses on Sociology, Political Science and Development Studies, and previously served as Chair of Department of Social Science in UP Manila.

MARTIN AUGUSTINE B. BORLONGAN

Mr. Borlongan finished his Bachelor’s degree and Master of Science degree in Statistics at the University of the Philippines. He is an Assistant Professor at the School of Statistics, University of the Philippines, for both undergraduate and graduate courses. These courses include Elementary Statistics, Introduction to Programming, Nonparametric Statistical Inference, and Experimental Designs. His research interests cover topics on Non-Parametric statistics, Multivariate Analysis, Dimension Reduction Techniques, Statistical Computing, and Genomics.

MAURICE C. BORROMEO

Mr. Borromeo finished his Bachelor of Science in Statistics degree as Cum Laude, at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He also finished a Master of Science in Statistics Cognate in Computer Science from the same University. He currently teaches as an Assistant Professor at his alma mater, for courses on statistical modeling, survey, theory, and computing, while also providing statistical consulting services. He has served as resource person for several statistical training courses. He is able to work with statistical softwares like STATA, SAS, R and Q.

JOSEPH ALBERT NIÑO M. BULAN

Mr. Bulan took his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics at the University of the Philippines Los Baños, and is currently working on his Master of Statistics thesis at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently working with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as an Associate Statistics Analysis, and previously worked at the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). From his experience in both the PSA and ADB, he has attended and participated in several workshops related to the Sustainable Development Goals.

RAMONCITO G. CAMBEL

Mr. Cambel finished his Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Master of Science in Statistics (specialized in Business Management) at University of the Philippines in Los Baños. He went on to teach in the same university as an Instructor, and is a receipt of the UPLB Outstanding Teacher in the Physical Sciences, Junior Faculty Category in 2017 “for consistently employing a wide range of teaching strategies to successfully engage students that has led to improved learning experience and quality learning outcomes”, and the College of Arts and Science Outstanding Junior Faculty in 2015 “for his novel ideas in teaching, which reflects his passion and selflessness in all his activities, not only at the Institute of Statistics, College of Arts and Sciences, but also for the greater community”.

THERESE ANN G. CAPISTRANO

Ms. Capistrano has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines Diliman, from which she graduated as Cum Laude. She has also earned her master’s degree in Statistics from the same university. She is an Assistant Professor in the same University for the School of Statistics, where she also served as the Director for Undergraduate Studies for 12 years.

FAITH R. CASTRO-BRAZIL

Ms. Castro-Brazil has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and General Science as well as a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She also has a Master of Arts degree in English and Communications, and in Youth Volunteer Management. She also holds a Certificate in Management in Executive Management, and Associate degrees in Arts and Secretarial Science. She is a freelance Human Resources and Development specialist, and serves as a training consultant/specialist to various government and non-government agencies, centers and private organizations by designing, conducting and evaluating development and training programs.

KRISTINA NORMA B. COBRADOR

Ms. Cobrador has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is currently taking her Master of Science in Statistics degree in the same university. She currently works for the University of the Philippines as a Teaching Associate. Prior to her work with the University, she was part of the faculty at the Mariam College High School teaching Learning Enhancement and Advancement Program summer classes, and helped in the conduct of Statistics trainings to prepare public school teachers for the K+12 curriculum.

ROSELLE V. COLLADO

Ms. Collado finished her Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics as Cum Laude, and went on to complete her Master of Science degree in Statistics, at the University of the Philippines, Los Baños. She is currently an Assistant Professor in statistics at the Institute of Statistics, University of the Philippines, Los Baños, and acts as Program Development Associate at the Office of Institutional Linkages at the same University. She was a former Director of Institute of Statistics of the College of Arts and Sciences. She is a recipient of 2007 College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Junior Faculty.

GRACE T. CRUZ, PH.D.

Dr. Cruz has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, graduating as Cum Laude, and a Master of Arts degree in Demography from the University of the Philippines. She has a Diploma in Population and Development from the Institute of Social Studies in Hague, Netherlands. She also holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sociology from the University of the Philippines. She currently works as a Professor 12 at the University of the Philippines Population Institute. Her research interests include Ageing of the Population, Technical Demography, Population and Development, Adolescent Sexuality, and Fertility.

JOHN CARLO P. DAQUIS

Mr. Daquis has a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree, both in Statistics, from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently working on a Master of Arts degree in Demography in the same University. He teaches at the University of the Philippines Diliman, School of Statistics, as Assistant Professor 4, for the undergraduate courses such as Elementary Statistics, Introduction to Time Series Analysis and Forecasting, Introduction to Categorical Data Analysis, and more. His expertise includes Advanced Statistical Computing, Regression and Time Series Analysis, Bayesian Statistics, Experimental Designs, Statistical Programming, and Probability Theory.

FRANCISCO N. DELOS REYES

Mr. Delos Reyes has a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and a Master of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He also has an ongoing Post-graduate Ph.D. in Statistics from the same institution. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman, School of Statistics. He is an awardee of the 2020 Gawad Tsanselor sa Natatanging Guro, received from the University of the Philippines, in recognition of his contributions to innovations in research and in the teaching of statistics. His field of expertise include medical statistics, data science and analytics, geostatistics, risk modeling, market research, market intelligence, data mining, market segmentation, and business intelligence. He is proficient in several statistical software such as SAS, R, SPSS, STATISTICA, MINITAB, GEODA, REVMAN, and EViews.

MICHAEL DOMINIC C. DEL MUNDO

Mr. Del Mundo is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Statistics at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He finished his Master of Arts in Demography in the same university. He has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Demographic Research from the European Doctoral School of Demography, held at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research Germany and Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. He is currently working on a Doctorate in Philosophy degree in Health Science (Health Demography) at the University of the Philippines. He is an Assistant Professor at the same University, under the Population Institute. His fields of interest are Statistical Demography, Econometric Modeling and Impact Evaluation, and Population and Development.

RON LESTER S. DURANTE

Mr. Durante is a graduate of the University of the Philippines Los Baños with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, Major in Farm Structures and Environment, and a Master of Science degree in Agrometeorology. He is currently working with the Asian Development Bank as a Research Analyst.

JEAN S. ENCINAS-FRANCO, PH.D.

Dr. Encinas-Franco has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Research, wherein she graduated as Cum Laude, and has a Master in Public Administration degree at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She finished her doctorate degree in Political Science also from the same university. She teaches at the University of the Philippines Diliman under the Department of Political Science. As Assistant Professor, she teaches courses on Research in Political Science, Political Analysis, and Proposal Writing. She is an expert in the fields of gender, feminist politics, and Philippine Labor Out-migration.

CARMELITA N. ERICTA

Ms. Ericta is has a Bachelor of Science in Statistics degree, and a Master of Statistics degree, both taken at the University of the Philippines Diliman School of Statistics. She is currently the president and member of the board of Novo Trends PH, Inc., a private survey firm. Prior to retirement, she has spent 43 years in government service aligned with statistical agencies. She was formerly the Civil Registrar General of the then National Statistics Office, and formerly the Assistant Secretary General of the then National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), and finally ended her term as Interim National Statistician for the Philippine Statistics Authority during the creation of the agency in 2013 by virtue of law. She also regularly serves as Resource Person at the Development Academy of the Philippines.

SIM L. ESTALLO

Mr. Estallo has a degree in AB Computer Education from the National College of Business Administration. He has also earned units for a Masters in Information Technology degree from the Technological Institute of the Philippines. He is a freelance consultant, formerly working as an Information Systems Analyst at the Systems Development Division of Department of Interior and Local Government. He has also continually served as Resource Person for the then Statistical Research and Training Center (now PSRTI) for courses on MS Excel, MS Access and other programming-related training courses. He is a certified Microsoft Office specialist, and a holder of Certificate of Proficiency in Computer Programming.

PRIMITIVO WARREN B. GARCERA

Mr. Garcera has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Mapua Institute of Technology. He is a Licensed Electronics Engineer. He works as a freelance consultant while working as General Manager for the Royal Sorazo Travel & Tours. He is adept in various web development skills such as in PHP/MySQL, JavaScript/JQuery, HTML/CSS, Facebook Page and Ads Management, Google My Business and Adwords Management, and Google Apps Script. His work in the private industry has given him experience in Program and Operations Management and in IT Service Desk Programming.

DONALD JAMES D. GAWE

Mr. Gawe is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Saint Louis University, Baguio City. He has three Master’s degrees: MS Rural Development degree from Benguet State University; MA Demography from the University of the Philippines, and; Master in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines (graduating with the Highest Honors). He is currently the Director of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), an attached agency of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). He is a Career Executive Service Eligible and registered Environmental Planner. He is also a receipt of the 2018 Gawad AlaGAD, given by the Philippine Commission on Women for his dedication in providing technical and administrative support as lead Secretariat of the RGADC IV-A and for championing the Institutionalization of RGADC in the Ilocos Region, and a Gawad ng Director Award in 2003 for his work in NEDA Regional Office CALABARZON.

MARIA MIDEA M. KABAMALAN, PH.D.

Dr. Kabamalan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Santo Tomas. She also has a Master of Arts degree in Demography from the University of the Philippines and Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Hawaii. She is holder of a Graduate Certificate in Population Studies and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the same University. She is currently working as Professor 4 at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Population Institute, with research focus on Marriage, Families and Households, Technical Demography, Fertility, and Adolescent Sexuality.

CHARLIE S. LABINA

Mr. Labina has a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science (Mathematics) from the University of the Philippines, Visayas. He has passed comprehensive examinations for a Master in Applied Statistics degree from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He also has a Master of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines Diliman, and has passed comprehensive examinations for a Ph.D. in Statistics from the same University. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the School of Statistics, University of the Philippines Diliman, teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses. His areas of interest include Nonparametric Statistics, Bayesian Statistics, Probabilistic Networks, Classification, and Sampling.

JESSA S. LOPEZ

Ms. Lopez is a holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, graduating Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She also has a Master of Science in Statistics from the same University. She is currently the Chief Statistical Specialist for the Research Division of the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute. She previously worked as Assistant Professor for the School of Statistics, University of the Philippines Diliman, where she also briefly held a Director of Research position.

JEROME P. LUCAS

Mr. Lucas has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Research, graduating Cum Laude, from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and a Master of Arts degree in Philippine Studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He currently works as an Information Officer for the Department of Labor and Employment Wages and Productivity Commission.

DONNA AURA A. LUMBO

Ms. Lumbo has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of the Philippines. She earned her Master of Science degree in Organization Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration, with Distinction, at De La Salle University in Manila. She also has a Certificate in Human Resource Management, with Distinction, at the University of California Los Angeles Extension. She is a Human Resource and Organizational Development Training Consultant and Executive Coach, with extensive exposure on training needs assessment, design, implementation and evaluation. She also teaches part-time at the De La Salle University. Her areas of expertise include recruitment, organization development, and training and talent management.

DALISAY S. MALIGALIG, PH.D.

Dr. Maligalig has a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines, Los Baños. She also earned her Master of Science Major in Statistics Minor in Economics from the same institution. She finished her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Statistics at the University of Michigan. She is currently an associate professor at the Institute of Statistics in University of the Philippines in Los Baños. She previously also served as Principal Statistician at Asian Development Bank. She is an expert in the design and implementation of probability sample surveys, Statistical Inference of complex surveys, analysis and institutionalization of methodological research results and data processing, validation and analysis of large data sets.

GEORGE RINGO S. MANAPAT

Mr. Manapat has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, and graduated Magna Cum Laude, at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently working on his Master of Science in Statistics degree in the same university, as is concurrently working as a Teaching Associate. He handles undergraduate courses such as Elementary Statistics and Mathematics for Statistics. He also works freelance as a Research and Training Assistant and resource person for the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute. He is proficient in several statistical programs such as SPSS, SAS, E-Views, R and Stata.

DENNIS S. MAPA, PH.D.

Dr. Mapa has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He has also earned a Master of Arts in Economics and Doctor of Philosophy in Economics degree from the same university. He is currently the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). He was formerly the Dean of the University of the Philippines School of Statistics in Diliman, and previously held the position of President of the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. His research interests include Econometric Analysis, Financial Time Series Analysis, Empirical Economic Growth Analysis, Poverty and Hunger Analysis, and Impact Evaluation.

ROCKY T. MARCELINO

Mr. Marcelino has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños. He is also a faculty member at the same university, holding the position of Assistant Professor. He also works as a Data Analyst and Consultant for the DDPM InfoSystems Analytics Services, and as a freelance Statistician/Consultant for several researches. His field of expertise includes data management and database systems infrastructure, survey operations management, and Biostatistical computing. He is also adept in using statistical data mining techniques such as Monte Carlo Markov Chain models, association analysis, and decision trees, among others.

ARTURO M. MARTINEZ, JR.

Mr. Martinez has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines. He has a Master of Science degree in Statistics from the same university. He then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Statistics from the University of Queensland, Australia. He works as a Statistician for the Asian Development Bank under the Statistics and Data Innovation, Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department. He research interests include Social Stratification, Poverty, Inequality and Economic Mobility, Survey Design, Small Area Estimation, and Multivariate and Multilevel Modeling. He is also adept in computer softwares such as Stata, SAS, WinBUGs, MLWiN, SPSS, R, and ArcGIS

MARIA PAZ N. MARQUEZ, PH.D.

Dr. Marquez has taken a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and a Master of Arts in Demography at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She is also a Ph.D. Candidate on Philippine Studies at the same university. Currently, she is an Associate Professor 7 at the University of the Philippines Population Institute. Her research interests include Technical Demography, Adolescent Sexuality, Fertility, Family Planning, Population and Environment, Data Archiving, and Database Development.

JARED JORIM O. MENDOZA

Mr. Mendoza has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, minor in Finance Management from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños. He a Master of Science degree in Statistics, also minoring in Finance Management from the same university. He currently also works at the same institution as an Assistant Professor 1. His expertise includes Sampling Design, Time Series Analysis, and research project design and analysis. He is also knowledgeable in using statistical software like R, SAS, STATA, EViews, SPSS, and CSPro.

NESTOR R. MIJARES IV

Mr. Mijares was a former Deputy Director General, National Economic and Development Authority (Philippines), and is a Career Executive Service Officer. He has more than 25 years of experience in policy formulation, development planning, and field level operations. His field exposure provided opportunities for specialized involvement in disaster management where he helped pioneer the use of computer-assisted GIS for Mt. Pinatubo Area rehabilitation, reconstruction and development.

NORBERTO E. MILLA

Mr. Milla graduated from the Visayas State College of Agriculture (currently Visayas State University) with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Statistics as Cum Laude. He took his Master of Science in Statistics at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He later on went to take a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Statistics at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños. He works as an Associate Professor at the Visayas State University, and concurrently acts as the Head of the Department of Statistics. He teaches courses on Elementary Statistics, Experimental designs, Regression analysis, and Statistical Packages. His research interests include Applied statistics, Categorical Data Analysis, Linear Models, Bayesian statistics, Biostatistics, Small Area Estimation, Impact Evaluation, and Multivariate Statistics.

ELPIDIO C. NOGALES, JR.

Mr. Nogales has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of the Philippines. He also has a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He is currently an IT consultant at Philippine Statistics Authority. His field of expertise includes Data Processing, Information Technology, and Business Statistics. He is knowledgeable in using statistical software such as CSPro, DEVINFO, AXIS, and PC AXIS.

NIMFA B. OGENA, PH.D.

Dr. Ogena has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics and a Master of Arts degree in Demography from the University of the Philippines. She also has a Diploma in International Relations and Development from the Institute of Social Studies in Hague, Netherlands. She finished her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sociology and Demography at Pennsylvania State University in USA. She is a Professor 12 at the University of the Philippines Population Institute. Her research interests include Population Ageing and Transition to Adulthood, Migration, Mobility and Occupations, Gender and Development, Marriage, Family and the Life Course, Technical Demography, and Urbanization.

RUBY V. PAUROM

Ms. Paurom is a graduate of AB Journalism at the University of the Philippines Diliman Institute of Mass Communication. She is the Principal Consultant and Co-Owner of RubyComm-K.Austria Public Relations Co, and Co-Founder of the Kabud Multi-Media Production and Theater. She was previously part of the faculty of the Development Academy of the Philippines Public Management Development Program for their Communication and Media Relations Module.

JEO ADAM S. PAZ

Mr. Paz has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Arts (Honorable Mention) from the De La Salle College of Saint Benilde. He is currently the Managing Director and Co-Founder of the Please Explain Multimedia Co. (PLEEX), a multimedia explainer video company, and Creative Director/Owner of Nifty Hero Multimedia Service, a branding and solutions firm providing multimedia consultancy services. He design and production skills include, among others, Animation, Art Direction, Branding and Identity, Broadcasting, Creative Direction, Motion Design, Editing, Post-Production, Videography, and Video Production. His clients have included AISEC Singapore, Bonakid, Cinemalaya, Coca-Cola, Dencio’s Bar and Grill, Hapee Toothpaste, KitKat, LBC, and more. He is proficient is software/programs like Adobe Creative Suite, Apple Final Cut Pro, AutoCAD 2011, Autodesk Maya 11, Macromedia Director and The Foundry: Nuke X.

JOYCE RAYMOND B. PUNZALAN

Mr. Punzalan has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines. He is currently taking his Doctorate degree in Statistics from the same university. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman, School of Statistics. His research interests include Multivariate Analysis, Statistical Modelling, and Applied Statistics.

RUZZEL D. RAGAS

Mr. Ragas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, wherein he graduated as Magna Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines. He finished his Master of Science degree in Statistics at the same university. He previously worked as an assistant professor at University of the Philippines. His proficient in the statistical software R.

ROMEO S. RECIDE

Mr. Recide is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Cum Laude, at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He obtained his Master of Science in Statistics, as well as several units for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Statistics, from the same university. He works as a consultant for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Prior to that, he also served as the Deputy National Statistician of the Sectoral Statistics Office of the Philippine Statistics Authority, and as Director of the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics. Concurrent to his time as Director of BAS, he acted as Officer-in-Charge at the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning at the Department of Agriculture.

PAOLO VICTOR T. REDONDO

Mr. Redondo has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He obtained his Master of Science in Statistics, and currently undertaking his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Statistics at the same university. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at the same institution, and currently works as a freelance Consultant. He has served as resource person for various training-workshops on Big Data Analytics for the Philippine Statistics Authority, as well as several training courses with the PSRTI. His areas of interests include Computational Statistics, Spatial-Temporal Models, and Nonparametric Models.

JAN ANDREW P. REFORSADO

Mr. Reforsado has taken a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics at the University of the Philippines in Los Baños. He is currently finishing his master’s degree, while working as an Instructor 4, at the same university. His research interests include Computational Statistics.

JAMES ROLDAN S. REYES

Mr. Reyes has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics (specialization in Business Management) and a Master of Science degree in Statistics (cognate in Business Management) from the University of the Philippines in Los Baños. He is part of the faculty of the same institution, where he also serves as Assistant College Secretary of the College of Arts and Sciences. He is a recipient of UP Los Baños Outstanding Teacher Award for Physical Sciences Junior Faculty Category and the UP Los Baños Centennial Professorial Lecture Chair Award, both during 2013, and received a UP International Publication Award in 2016. His field of expertise includes sampling and survey operations, temporal analysis, risk and forecasting, and data science and analytics. He is knowledgeable and experienced on statistical softwares like R, SAS, STATA, EViews, SPSS, CSPro, and EPI Info.

ronald r. roldan, jr.

Mr. Roldan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, graduating Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He earned his Master of Science in Statistics, minor in Computer Science, at the same university. He is also part of their faculty as Assistant Professor of the Institute of Statistics. He also serves as a freelance resource person for several PSRTI training courses. He is skilled in the statistical packages SPSS, STATA, SAS and EViews, as well as in R and Python programming languages.

SABRINA o. ROMASOC

Ms. Romasoc is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Statistics, Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines Diliman. She is currently taking her Master of Science in Statistics at the same university, where she also worked as faculty. Currently, she is the Supervising Statistical Specialist of the Research Division of the PSRTI. One of her academic papers won First Runner-up at the 2017 SAS Call for Papers Competition – Faculty Division.

GIAN LOUISSE A. ROY

Mr. Roy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, graduating Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He is currently taking his Master of Science degree in Statistics in the same university. He is an instructor at the University of the Philippines School of Statistics. He received the Most Outstanding Statistics 101 Teacher Award for the 1st Semester of the 2017-2018 Academic year and on the 2nd Semester of the 2016-2017 academic year.

JAN GIL G. SARMIENTO

Mr. Sarmiento is a Bachelor of Science in Statistics Cum Laude graduate from the University of the Philippines in Diliman. He is currently taking his Master of Science degree in Statistics, and is working as a Teaching Assistant/Lecturer in the same university, teaching courses on elementary statistics and statistical programming.

GENELYN MA. F. SARTE

Ms. Sarte has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics, Cum Laude, at the University of the Philippines in Diliman. She also finished her Master of Science degree in Statistics in the same university. She is currently taking her Doctor of Philosophy degree at the same university. She is an Associate Professor at the University of the Philippines Diliman, School of Statistics. Formerly, she also served as their Director for Undergraduate Studies and Director for Statistical Consulting and Computing Laboratory. She was awarded by the Asia Link Programme Euro-Philippines Network in Banking and Finance the Junior Researcher position at the Université de Poitiers in Poitiers, France, and she is also a recipient of Rosario Chew Professorial Chair Award for Market Research. Her expertise includes multivariate analysis, time series analysis, and statistical modelling. She is also proficient in using SAS, STATA, EViews, SPSS, and Statistica.

MICHAEL VAN B. SUPRANES

Mr. Supranes has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines. He is currently an Assistant Professor on the same university. His expertise includes statistical machine learning, computational statistics, statistics for high dimensional data, and nonparametric regression.

JALTON G. TAGUIBAO, PH.D.

Dr. Taguibao has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of the Philippines. He also completed his Master of Management, Public Management degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science degree from the same university. He also did his postgraduate studies at Universitat zu Humboldt, Berlin Graduate School for the Social Sciences in Berlin, Germany, and at the Universidade de Sao Paulo in Brazil. He is an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Management at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Department of Political Science, and a Research Fellow for Data Science of Public Policy Program for the Center for Integrative and Development Studies of the same university. His areas of interest include sustainable energy, environment, technology and innovations, and political communication. He specializes in public policy analysis, research, and research methodology.

NANCY A. TANDANG, PH.D.

Dr. Tandang has taken her Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics at the Institute of Statistics of the University of the Philippines Los Baños, from which she graduated as Cum Laude. She also completed her Master of Science in Statistics (cognate in Economics) and Doctor of Philosophy (cognate in Nutrition) degrees from the same university. As an Assistant Professor in the same institution, she has received two awards. Most recently as the 2017 Most Outstanding Senior CAS Faculty and previously the 2006 Most Outstanding Junior CAS Faculty from the UPLB College of Arts and Sciences. She has Chaired several committees in the Academe, including those of the Research Committee and the Alumni Committee in the Institute of Statistics., and was Department Head of the Survey Sampling Division of the same institute.  Her field of expertise includes nutrition, survey sampling, and econometrics.

JEFFREY J. TEJADA, PH.D.

Dr. Tejada has a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics from the University of the Philippines. He also earned his Master of Science in Statistics and Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics from the same university. He works as an Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of the Philippines Diliman, School of Statistics, teaching doctorate, masters, and undergraduate courses on Probability Theory, Statistical Inference, Analytics and Data Mining, Time Series Analysis, Statistical Software, and other subject. His areas of expertise include Mathematical Theory, Statistical Analyses and Data Mining, Econometric Modelling, Research Methodology, Database Management and Programming, and Business Intelligence and Analytics.

STEPHEN JUN V. VILLEJO

Mr. Villejo finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics at the University of the Philippines Diliman, wherein he graduated as Cum Laude. He also finished his Master of Science degree in Statistics from the same university. He is an Assistant Professor of the same university under the School of Statistics, teaching courses on Elementary Statistics, Mathematics for Statistics, Probability Theory, Regression Analysis, Multivariate Analysis, and more. He also previously served as the College Secretary of the School of Statistics and Assistant Director for the Statistical Computing Laboratory. He is a recipient of the 2017 Professorial Chair for Statistics, from the Philippines Statistical Association, Inc. His research interests include spatial and spatio-temporal models, epidemiology, and Bayesian computation.

JOHN LORENZO A. YAMBOT

Mr. Yambot finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics at the Institute of Statistics at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He also earned his Master of Science in Statistics (cognate in Information Technology) from the same university. He is as Assistant Professor at the same institute, teaching undergraduate courses on statistical theory and statistical methods, applying a “flipped classroom approach” maximizing the use of IT and learning videos to facilitate teaching and learning. He is a recipient of the One U.P. Faculty Grant Award in Statistics for Outstanding Teaching and Public Service in UP Los Baños (for the year 2019-2021), and the 2016 UPLB Outstanding Teacher for the Physical Sciences – Junior Faculty Category “for his exemplary performance as an instructor in statistics, employing a wide range of strategies to motivate his students, which has led to improved learning skills and overall student experience”. His areas of expertise include computational statistics, data visualization, and data storytelling.
