PSRTI holds two Customized Trainings for PSA

In keeping with its mandate of delivering relevant and useful capacity activities focusing on statistics, the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) started the year with two (2) customized trainings on Microsoft Excel for Database Management for the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The
trainings, held February 2-4, 2021 has two batches, composed of
selected staff from Provincial Statistical Offices (PSO), and Regional
Statistical Services Offices (RSSO) as well as the Technical Staff from
Community-Based Statistics Service (CBSS) and other services of PSA.
Resource persons are Mr. Sim L. Estallo and Mr. Primitivo Warren B.
Garcera.
A total of 70 participants attended, with 35 for each Section A and B, respectively.
The 3-day training focused on creating and formatting spreadsheets, learning to sort and filter, creating formulas, being familiar with a range of functions, getting to work with pivot tables, charts, and other basic functionalities of Excel in preparation for basic data management and its application on the data that PSA staff will be using for their services.
Most of the participants are involved or assigned in simple database management responsibilities, doing research, data analysis, and report preparation.
Some of the impressions on the trainings are: “very organized conduct of training courses”, “well-managed time/schedule of the courses”, “resource persons are knowledgeable, discussed the topics clearly so that it’s easy to understand, with great sense of humor and rapport to virtual participants”, “training materials were provided accordingly”, and “topics were very useful and easy to grasp as it was discussed both technically and in layman’s term.”
The trainings on Microsoft Excel for Database Management are part of the project on the Capacity Building for Selected Technical Staff of Local Government Units (LGUs) and the Community-Based Statistics Service and other services of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
