The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) successfully wrapped up its Customized Training Course on Basic Statistics 1: Descriptive Statistics for the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Regional Office VII on August 31-September 3, 2021.
The four-day training course had Ms. Charlene Mae Celoso, a former professor of the University of the Philippines School of Statistics, and current research associate of the PSRTI for the Baseline Study of the National Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization and Industrialization Plan, as resource person.
The course covered some basic concepts in statistics including the different methods of data collection, data presentation and commonly used summary measures. Ms. Celoso led the discussion of the different topics, and paired each key topic with a hands-on discussion or group workshop activity. This enabled the participants to better understand and apply the tools learned from the training.
The training was most appreciated by the participants. In fact, during the closing ceremonies, one participant mentioned that, “The training is well organized and very time-oriented… I would say it’s a perfect 10 kagaya ng previous training.” While another participant commended the PSRTI team saying, “Each of them are competent and knowledgeable facilitators, from the Resource Person, [down to the] Host … [and the PSRTI Ask Me].”
The customized training is a partnership between the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute and the Environmental Management Bureau Regional Office VII, to which the PSRTI hopes to continue to have collaborations with.
