The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI), in coordination with the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), conducted the Customized Training Course (CTC) on Effective Presentation Skills and Techniques on March 7-11, 2022. The training provided tips and strategies to participants on presentation skills and techniques to be able to deliver such presentations with conviction, poise, and confidence.
PSRTI Executive Director III, Dr. Josefina V. Almeda, opened the training course with inspiring welcome remarks to all 20 participants of the 5-day training course. The resource persons are Mr. Joseph AC. Ayllon, a communications specialist, and Ms. Czarinne Antoinette A. Antonio, a statistics instructor.
Mr. Ayllon, aside from being a Communications Management Specialist and Business Management Consultant, is also a former Assistant Vice President and Head of Communications and Media Relations of the company, Mercedes-Benz. He delivered lectures on the basics of communications, organizing presentations, and public speaking methods.
Ms. Antonio, on the other hand, is an instructor at the University of the Philippines School of Statistics (UPSS). She discussed structuring techniques, summary measures, and the use of common visual aids in presentations on the 3rd day of the training.
During the Closing Ceremonies, one participant lauded how the training felt like a face-to-face training experience, even if conducted virtually. In addition, both resource speakers were cited as “experts in their field and built a learning environment where the participants were free to express their ideas and clarifications openly.” The training team was also commended for being energetic, especially when doing recaps and energizers that gave participants the needed boost to keep their energy and attention in completing the training.
Overall, the training participants appreciated the conduct of the customized training course which they find meaningful, insightful, and fun.
