PSRTI conducts another Virtual Regular Training Course on Microsoft Excel for Database Management on September 6-9, 2021

The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) finished another highly requested and anticipated regular training course on Microsoft Excel for Database Management on September 9, 2021. The training had 24 participants from various government agencies such as the Public-Private Partnership Center, Anti Red Tape Authority, Tacloban City Planning and Development Office, Department of Energy, Provincial Planning and Development Office of Nueva Vizcaya and the National Youth Commission.

The resource speaker for this training was Mr. Sim L. Estallo, a freelance programmer and expert on Microsoft Excel. This four-day training course discussed the basics of Microsoft (MS) Excel, starting from the commonly used tools up to the advanced data management features and functions of MS Excel. The features included Conditional Formatting, Mail Merging, Chart Construction, Worksheet and Workbook Linking, Crosslinking, Database Construction, Macros VBA, among others.

Overall, the participants for this course enjoyed the training where most commended the resource speaker and PSRTI training for ably handling the conduct of the course. One participant specifically mentioned the approach of the resource person by saying that, “The approach of Sir Sim was very practical[.] [H]e was able to provide examples where we can apply the topics to our day-to-day functions. [He] was also very enthusiastic since [D]ay 1. This made his manner of facilitation very engaging for all the participants.” Additionally, a participant said that the overall conduct of the course is well-structured when it was mentioned that “I have never been in a Zoom room as organized as in this training.”
