PSRTI and PSA conduct Customized Training Course on Microsoft Excel for Database Management for LGUs under the CBMS Project

The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) conducted on March 3-5, 2021 the virtual training course on Microsoft Excel for Database Management for selected technical staff of the Local Government Units (LGUs), which the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will involve in the pretesting of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) questionnaires in the pilot areas scheduled for this year.

The Microsoft Excel for Database Management is the first of the two trainings that will be offered to LGUs under the project with the Community-Based Statistics Service of the PSA. The course aims to provide participants the skills in managing, formatting, making of tables and charts, and consolidation of data using MS Excel. Participants were taught how to generate tables and charts and the use functions with Excel in preparation for basic data management and its application on real-life datasets. A total of 35 participants attended the training course, with personnel coming from the local government units of Marikina City, Bauang and San Gabriel of La Union, Batac City of Ilocos Norte, Sta. Maria of Isabela, Samal of Bataan, Teresa of Rizal, Dauin of Negros Oriental, Baybay City of Leyte, and Bayugan City of Agusan del Sur. The resource person of the training course is Mr. Sim L. Estallo, a former Information Systems Analyst III of the DILG and a Certified Microsoft Office Specialist. The participants mentioned that “the training materials are well organized and well presented”, “resource person has in-depth knowledge of Excel and is very accommodating and an effective speaker”, “we can easily digest what the resource person teaches”, and “the training itself is prepared and handled very satisfactorily”.
