DOST attends CTC on Technical Writing Course on Statistical Reports

The Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) conducted the first batch of the Customized Training Course (CTC) on Technical Writing Course on Statistical Reports for the technical staff of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Central and Regional offices on June 14-15, 2022. The course is the third installment of the four-course capacity-building program lined up for the department.

Dr. Jerome T. Buenviaje, Dean of the College of Education of the University of the Philippines Diliman, is the resource person in this first batch with 30 training participants from Regions I, III, IVB, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, CAR, Caraga, and Central Office.
The 2-day training course consisted of lectures, hands-on activities, discussions, and workshop exercises. The topics discussed mainly focused on the steps of how to write a technical report and how to report statistical quantities following the APA style and editing techniques.
The training received positive feedback that included it being, “conducted in a well-organized manner which demonstrated the professionalism and expertise of the PSRTI in delivering this type of services”. Other positive feedback includes, “the resource person, topics, training team, and flow of activities were designed to ensure the attainment of the learning objectives, the engagement of participants, the necessary interaction for an effective training session, and make the learning process enjoyable.’’
The Chief Statistical Specialist of the Training Division, Ms. Maria Praxedes R. Pena, representing the PSRTI Executive Director III Dr. Josefina V. Almeda, ended the training with her closing remarks and thanked the DOST for entrusting to the PSRTI the capability-building needs of their staff in technical report writing.
