This regular training was held 11-15 May 2015 at the PSRTI. It was conducted for participants to develop analytical skills in dissecting policies and use of statistics for improving the policy making process and decision-making. With the various policies being formulated by the government, there is a need to learn how to approach policy problems and choose appropriate basic methods for analysis.
A total of 13 participants who are involved in the preparation, analysis, monitoring and improvement of government policies attended. Knowledge of basic statistical concepts is a basic requirement of the said training. The attendees gained an understanding of various concepts in policy analysis, identifying and formulating indicators required for policy analysis, and analyzing data using measures of relationships. The agencies represented are the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD); National Economic and Development Authority (Central Office and Regional Field Office I); Philippine Health Corporation (PhilHealth); Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE-Reg.7); and National Wages and Productivity Commission;
Resource persons are: Professor Josefina V. Almeda of the UP School of Statistics Diliman for the statistics part and Mr. Donald James D. Gawe of NEDA IVB for the policy analysis portion. Training coordinator is Ana Julia J. Macaraig of PSRTI Training Division.
