The Complimentary Training Course on Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel brought together 47 participants from various member-agencies of Region IV-A’s Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) on October 1-3, 2024. The event was held at Hotel Marciano in Calamba City, Laguna, with Resource Persons Mr. Christopher Mojica and Mr. Ares Amable Parales from the PSRTI Training Division.

The training commenced with welcoming remarks from key officials. National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region IV-A OIC Regional Director Carmel Matabang, who is the Chairman of the RSC Region IV-A, and Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) IV-A Statistical Operations and Coordination Division (SOCD) OIC Chief Statistical Specialist Charity Bautista both emphasized the importance of building statistical capacity to empower the region’s member-agencies.
The three-day course focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge and techniques in data management using Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel. The Resource Persons, Mr. Mojica and Mr. Parales, were lauded for their expertise and interactive approach, which encouraged active participation and open discussion among attendees.
During the Closing Ceremonies on the final day, select participants shared their feedback, expressing gratitude for the valuable insights and hands-on learning. They commended the trainers’ engaging demeanor and clear presentation of complex concepts, which made the training both enjoyable and highly informative.

PSA Region IV-A Regional Director Charito Armonia delivered the Closing Remarks, expressing appreciation to the training team and participants for their collective effort in making the program a success.
This initiative underscores the commitment of PSRTI, in collaboration with NEDA and PSA, to enhancing the statistical skills of the RSCs, ensuring a more data-driven approach to regional development.
