The PSRTI recently concluded a three-day training program for the Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) of Caraga on Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel, held from October 15-17, 2024, at the Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center in Butuan City. The training, attended by 32 participants from various government agencies in the Caraga Region, was facilitated by Ms. Haidee Fay Ignacio and Mr. Ares Parales from the PSRTI Training Division.

The complimentary course aims to enhance participants’ skills in data management using Google Sheets and MS Excel. Participants were introduced to advanced techniques in data entry, analysis, and visualization, which are crucial for evidence-based decision-making.
The training was deemed by participants to be well-organized, covering basic concepts and progressing to more advanced functionalities.
Participants highlighted the value of the hands-on exercises, which reinforced their learning. Feedback also indicated that the integration of both platforms allowed them to better understand their strengths and limitations. While the attendees found the content comprehensive and relevant, some suggested additional time for deeper exploration of advanced topics.

The training concluded with Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) OIC Regional Director Guillermo M. Lipio, Jr. delivering the closing remarks. He congratulated the participants for their active involvement and emphasized the importance of technical skills in data management to improve productivity and service delivery.
The PSRTI, through its Complimentary Training series, remains dedicated to providing relevant capacity-building programs that equip participants with contemporary tools and strategies for effective data management, towards the goal of strengthening the Philippine Statistical System (PSS).
