A Customized Training Course (CTC) on Interactive Dashboards: Transforming Data into Dynamic Insights Using MS Power BI was successfully conducted for 29 participants from both the public and private sectors on August 12-16, 2024, via Zoom. The training, conducted in partnership with the Philippine Statistical Association, Inc. (PSAI), was led by Mr. Primitivo Warren Garcera.

This course, the first of its kind organized by the PSRTI and PSAI, aimed to equip participants with the skills to manage data, construct robust models, and create dynamic interactive dashboards using Microsoft Power BI, a rapidly growing business intelligence tool. The course’s primary goal was to enhance participants’ data analysis capabilities, sharpen decision-making processes, and foster career advancement in the fields of analytics and business intelligence. The target audience consisted of personnel responsible for data analysis and report generation.
Participants were highly engaged throughout the five-day training, gaining practical knowledge on Power BI’s core features, including data transformation, DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) functions, and creating meaningful visualizations. Feedback shared during the Closing Ceremonies highlighted the training’s well-structured content and logical progression of topics, which provided ample time for participants to absorb key concepts and ask questions. Participants also commended Mr. Garcera for his clarity in delivering complex topics and his ability to foster active participation, even while under the weather for part of the training. His patience and simplified approach to explaining advanced techniques were particularly appreciated.
In her Closing Remarks, PSRTI Executive Director III and PSAI President, Josefina V. Almeda, PhD, expressed gratitude to both the participants and the training team for their collaborative efforts in ensuring the training’s success. She emphasized that the knowledge and skills gained from the training will undoubtedly contribute to more informed and data-driven decision-making within their respective organizations and by extension, the Philippine Statistical System (PSS).
