A total of 161 participants from various National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) across Region VII attended the virtual conduct of the Sustainable Development Goals Seminar 5 on Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel on July 30 to August 1, 2024. The Resource Persons were Ms. Haidee Fay Ignacio and Mr. Eduard Gatus from the PSRTI Training Division.
The seminar aims to strengthen the data management capabilities of Local Government Units (LGUs) by emphasizing data literacy, which includes the effective accessing, management, and analysis of data. This initiative is vital for the successful devolution of Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) as mandated by Executive Order 138, series of 2021.
On the final day, participants shared their impressions of the three-day course. Many expressed their gratitude for the professional delivery of the training and noted that they gained valuable insights, not only from the lessons but also on how to apply the knowledge in their respective workplaces. The topics were praised for being both highly relevant and practical to their daily responsibilities.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Maria Praxedes Peña, Chief Statistical Specialist of the Training Division, and Mr. Leocadio Trovela, Regional Director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region VII, who both emphasized the importance of the training in advancing local governance through improved data management.
