The first face-to-face Regular Training Course (RTC) on Data Management: A Comprehensive Guide to MS Excel and Google Sheets for 2024 was successfully conducted at the PSRTI training rooms from July 8 to 11, 2024. Due to high enrollment, the training was split into two batches, catering to a diverse group of participants from various National Government Agencies (NGAs), Local Government Units (LGUs), and private offices.

Batch 1, consisting of 27 participants, was facilitated by Mr. Elpidio Nogales, Jr., former Chief of IT Operations at the National Statistics Office (now the Philippine Statistics Authority or PSA). Batch 2, with 24 participants, was led by Mr. George Ringo Manapat of the University of the Philippines Diliman School of Statistics (UPSS).
The course aimed to equip participants with essential skills for effective data management using MS Excel and Google Sheets. Emphasizing practical, hands-on experience, the training covered key functionalities such as data entry, formatting, formula writing, function activation, data consolidation, formatting, charting, and data management. Designed for personnel handling simple database management tasks, the course was particularly beneficial for first-level government employees involved in research, data analysis, and report preparation.
PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD, delivered both the opening and closing remarks. She thanked participants for their continued support of PSRTI and highlighted the agency’s pivotal role in enhancing the Philippine Statistical System (PSS).
The successful completion of this course underscores PSRTI’s commitment to providing high-quality training and development opportunities, ensuring that government and private sector employees are well-equipped with the necessary skills to manage and analyze data effectively.
