PSA CTCs continue with time series and forecasting

Two batches of participants from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) attended the Customized Training Course on Introduction to Time Series and Forecasting at the PSA Headquarters in Quezon City on June 3-7, 2024. The Resource Persons were Prof. John Carlo Daquis for 25 participants from PSA Central Office, comprising Batch 2, and Prof. Genelyn Ma. Sarte for 25 participants from PSA Field Offices across the Philippines, comprising Batch 3.


























The course aims to provide participants with an understanding of the principles and steps in making statistical forecasts from time series data, with topics such as basic concepts and considerations, how to effectively describe time series data, how to decompose a time series, how to perform basic forecasting methods, and how to forecast using exponential smoothing. Hands-on exercises are included through the use of the popular statistical software EViews. It is intended for personnel involved in the analysis of time series data.
Director Clemente S. Manaog, MNSA of the Planning and Management Service of the PSA delivered a closing message during the Closing Ceremonies held on the last day of the program. On behalf of PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD, closing remarks were also given by Mr. Christopher Mojica and Ms. Jesusa Sarabia of the PSRTI Training Division.
