UPSS resource persons lead technical writing RTC

Esteemed academicians Dr. Michael Lucagbo and Mr. Martin Borlongan from the University of the Philippines School of Statistics (UPSS) served as Resource Persons for the PSRTI’s virtual Regular Training Course (RTC) on Crafting Clarity: Technical Writing for Statistical Reports. The course took place from June 3-7, 2024, via Zoom, and was attended by 23 participants from various government agencies.

The course aimed to teach the mechanics of preparing clear and concise statistical reports for a wide audience. Objectives included enhancing technical writing skills and determining the proper use of tables, charts, flowcharts, and both descriptive and inferential statistics in technical reports.

Participant feedback highlighted the training as “well-organized” with a “pace that was just right.” The Resource Persons were lauded for their proficiency in the topics discussed and their ability to convey technical subjects in an understandable manner. Participants also appreciated the efficient use of Zoom features, such as Breakout Rooms, which enhanced the training experience.

Ms. Lolita Oreo, Chief Administrative Officer of the PSRTI Finance and Administrative Division, provided welcoming remarks during the Opening Ceremonies. Chief Statistical Specialist of the PSRTI Training Division, Ms. Pinky Peña, delivered the closing remarks during the Closing Ceremonies on the final day of the five-day online training course.
