In a significant stride towards enhancing data management capabilities, 295 participants from National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Local Government Units (LGUs) in Regions X and XII attended the virtual Sustainable Development Goals Seminar 5, held from May 14-16, 2024. The seminar, titled “Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel,” aimed to equip attendees with advanced skills in data analysis and visualization using the popular spreadsheet tools.

The three-day course featured expert guidance from Mr. Christopher Mojica and Mr. Eduard Gatus of the PSRTI Training Division. Participants lauded the seminar’s organization, particularly its effective time management and the resource persons’ adept facilitation. The training proved timely and relevant, particularly for those involved in Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) activities, with a focus on the validation and presentation of data.
Ms. Yvette Tolentino Sunga, CESO V, Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region X, and Atty. Rochelle Mahinay-Sero, CESE, OIC-Regional Director of DILG Region XII, delivered closing messages on the final day. They expressed gratitude to the PSRTI, the training team, and the participants for their collaborative efforts in making the event a success. PSRTI Training Division Chief Statistical Specialist Ms. Pinky Peña also conveyed closing remarks on behalf of PSRTI Executive Director III Dr. Josefina V. Almeda.
The SDG 5 seminar is part of a continuing series initiated by PSRTI in partnership with DILG, which commenced with SDG 1 in 2018. These seminars are hallmark activities of PSRTI, offered free of charge to invited participants from regional NGAs and LGUs, underscoring the commitment to enhancing local governance through improved data management practices.
