Successful complimentary training on Basic Demography empowers Senate staff

The PSRTI recently organized a comprehensive training course on Basic Demography at the Senate of the Philippines, held from October 2-5, 2023. The course featured Dr. Nimfa B. Ogena, an esteemed expert from the University of the Philippines Population Institute, as the Resource Person. A total of 27 participants from various Senate departments, including the Senate Economic Planning Office (SEPO), the Office of Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, and the Senate Human Resources Management Service, attended the training.

During the four-day training course, participants engaged in a series of enlightening lectures and hands-on workshops. This mode of training was met with resounding appreciation, as it provided attendees with valuable opportunities to reinforce and apply the demography concepts learned. Feedback from participants underscored the efficiency and professionalism of the PSRTI Training Team, who ensured a seamless event from beginning to end. One participant expressed their appreciation, stating, “I am very satisfied with how the training was conducted and I think most, if not all of the participants share this impression.”

The Closing Ceremonies, held on the final day, featured inspiring messages from key figures, including SEPO Director-General Ronald R. Golding, SEPO Executive Director Merwin H. Salazar, and PSRTI Executive Director III, Dr. Josefina V. Almeda. Dr. Almeda was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Senate staff in recognition of her invaluable contribution to the complimentary training.

This training course marks the second collaboration between PSRTI and SEPO in 2023, underscoring their commitment to strengthening the knowledge and skills of Senate staff members.
